3D / 4D Ultrasound
Frequently Asked Questions
These questions are the most frequently asked questions about elective ultrasound. If
you have any questions that are not answered below, please feel free to call us at (610) 750-7684 or email us at info@babypreviewco.com.
Will I always get a great picture of my baby?
Most of the time you will get very nice pictures on the first try, but not always. The baby and chance rule.
If there is a problem in getting nice pictures, we will be
happy to schedule another session at no additional charge.
Sorry, NO CASH REFUNDS.
Sometimes the baby is facing the wrong direction. Other times there may not be enough
fluid. Or, the placenta may block our view. In many cases we can try again later in the day or at a later date;
we may have better luck on the second try but we do not make any guarantees. We will try to get the best possible images of
your baby but every baby is different. Gestational age, position, or the amount of fluid may make getting a nice image of
the baby very difficult.
What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?
We provide
elective 2D, 3D, and 4D prenatal ultrasound scannings to offer a positive bonding experience for the expectant family members.
We feel that this experience will reinforce healthy and joyful parenting. We do not perform a medical diagnostic ultrasound
to check on the health of the baby. Expectant moms must already have had a diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their healthcare
provider. Please note, at no time should our scan be used in place of a complete diagnostic medical ultrasound exam.
How is 3D & 4D Ultrasound Different From 2D?
3D ultrasound takes a series of 2D images and assembles them to give a 3D computerized image of
the scan. 4D takes this process further. It takes a series of scans and puts them together to show these images in a cinematic
fashion. The fourth dimension is time.
Is
it safe? Are there any risks to me or my baby?
Extensive studies over
three decades have found that ultrasound does not harm mothers or babies. Ultrasound pregnancy scanning is currenty routine
in the United States. 3D / 4D ultrasound scans use the same intensity and type of ultrasound as those used in conventional
2D scans. Our sonographers are registered diagnostic medical sonographers with many years of experience in OB ultrasound scanning.
How far along in my pregnancy should I be to
have a 3D / 4D ultrasound?
Scans done between the 28th and the 34th
week of pregnancy are ideal.
If you choose to have your 3D/4D ultrasound done early, consider having
a second one done further along in your pregnancy. We offer Encore 3D/4D packages for just $99.
Full-figured
moms may find that waiting a few weeks will increase their chances of getting better images.
In any case, please
drink plenty of fluids so that you will be well hydrated; this helps you and the baby. It also makes it more likely that we will
be able to get a clear view of the baby in the womb.
May be bring our family and friends?
Yes. We encourage you
to bring family and friends to your elective ultrasound. This is an exciting and joyous occasion that should be shared with
those close to you. We can comfortably accommodate ten or more people in our scanning and screening room. Everyone should
have a great view in our theater style screening room.
Are you able to tell us the sex of the baby?
Yes, in most
cases we will be able to tell you the baby's gender. However, sometimes we will not be able to do so. The baby may be facing
the wrong direction, there may be placenta blocking the view, or other factors may make this problematic. Please wait until
the 18th week of pregnancy or later before doing an ultrasound scan to determine the baby's gender. We can do your 2D ultrasound
before 18 weeks if you choose, however, if we do one before 18 weeks, we will not do a free rescan if there is a problem determining
the baby's gender.
Is elective ultrasound
covered by insurance?
No, since this is an elective procedure, these
scans are not covered by insurance. Our pricing is set at a very reasonable level so that our services are affordable for
most everyone's budget. We accept all major credit and debit cards as well as cash.
